COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update #3: A Warning and Simple Steps

by Connie Hernandez, ND

Please do not believe everything you read online internet on the Covid-19 virus. As with all things Internet, you’re bound to find a mixed bag of helpful and well-intended but thoroughly misguided information.

A recently circulated advice suggest we can know if we’ve got the virus by holding the breath for 10 seconds – if there’s no discomfort, you aren’t infected!

The fact is, you can be infected long before symptoms appear. Thus the breath test will not diagnose whether you’ve got the virus.

It’s also not true that COVID-19 can’t survive in cold weather. In fact, the opposite is true – viruses in general don’t like heat. Fever treatments such as infrared sauna and supervised hot water immersion have long been used to combat viruses.

You can safely discount advertisements for natural products that purportedly guarantee to kill the virus – they are patently untrue. There are no guarantees when it comes to virulent viruses, and we’ve so far seen no reliable testing protocols emerge from natural or conventional medicine.

What is true is that optimizing your general health and supporting your body’s immune system (as noted in our previous newsletter.) will make you less receptive to the virus.

And, given the lack of proven treatments, a number of known effective antimicrobials will not harmful, and may in fact be helpful with this virus, as they have been helpful with other viruses. (Again, see our previous newsletter.) Some of these natural medicinals directly attack viruses, while others decrease inflammation and stabilize tissue.

As simplistic as it may seem, hand washing, not touching your face, keeping at least six feet away from coughing or sneezing persons, and social distancing are the best ways to keep yourself safe from contracting COVID-19 (and other viruses). See the chart for hand-washing technique.

We are advised to scrub our hands with soap for 20 seconds – or the time it takes to sing the happy birthday song twice.

But why limit yourself to physical cleansing? This YouTube video suggests spiritual chants to elevate your consciousness while hand washing 20-second chants for hand washing.

Not touching our faces proves more difficult that we might have imagined – as we are used to doing so an estimated 15-25 times an hour.

Keep a tissue close by and train yourself to use it if you must scratch an itch. Ask a friend or partner to remind you if they catch you at it, and offer to return the favor.

Social distancing will keep you at a safe distance from contagious others. Please don’t take this as an excuse to tarry too long on the television screen or computer monitor. Unnecessary electromagnetic frequencies interact unpredictably with your body’s own frequencies and with the frequencies of microorganisms, changing the both of you. You should limit exposure and shield yourself when possible.

Rather than bemoaning the sudden lack of group activities we love, plan to spend more time in nature, breathing fresh air, and stabilizing your electromagnetic field with that of the earth, enjoying the healing power of the sun. You will increase your immunity and be happier.

Other supremely simple, easily accessible ways to deter any virus and promote health include proper hydration (sipping water throughout the day) and gargling with salt water.

Last but not least, never ever forget the effect of your thoughts and feelings on your body’s health. Remember the oft referenced work of Emoto Sensei in which the spoken or written word, and even the thought of the word “love,” transformed frozen water into beautiful crystalline structures – while thoughts of hatred thoroughly disrupted and disorganized the crystals.
