Meet Anandini!

We’ve long felt that an acupuncturist would offer a perfect complement to the services we provide. So we’re hugely pleased to introduce our new associate, Anandini Wadera.

Anandini is a perfect fit for our practice, given her expertise in adjunctive cancer care, women’s health, and eye-related disorders. We’ll let Anandini introduce herself.

My introduction to Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture began when I was exposed to Ayurveda and homeopathy as a child.

I graduated from UCLA in English Literature and Creative Writing, with significant coursework in pre-med. For a time, I worked in product design at a Silicon Valley health tech company, but soon was unable to resist the call of my lifelong interest in holistic healing.

I studied at Five Branches University, an accredited traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture school in San Jose, California, where I specialized in menopause management, hormone balance, fertility (IVF and IUI), uterine fibroids, and other gynecological complaints, receiving a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM).

Having struggled with thyroid disorders and hormone balance, I naturally gravitated toward a specialty in women’s health and fertility.

Outside of school, I learned from Mia Blomquist, a highly regarded licensed acupuncturist, clinical herbalist, and primary health care provider who greatly increased my understanding of the emotional aspects of disease. I strive to treat my patients holistically, to help them achieve optimal health and emotional balance.

When two people very close to me were diagnosed with cancer, I felt intensely driven to help with their healing process. I underwent training in chemotherapy support, and recently began volunteering my acupuncture services at the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic for Integrative Cancer Care in Oakland. The Clinic serves underprivileged and low-income women with cancer. A community of volunteer practitioner help patients who are suffering from the side-effects of chemotherapy and radiation, offering them emotional and lifestyle support. Acupuncture assists their immune systems and helps them keep their spirits high, while relieving the side-effects of mainstream therapies.

I also have training in eye care. My grandmother inspired me to pursue a certificate with John Boel, a noted acupuncturist in Copenhagen, Denmark who specializes in eye care.

From John, I learned to care for degenerative eye diseases and low-vision disorders. (I’m very pleased to have helped return some vision to my grandmother’s right eye!)

I’ve also completed training and certifications in low-vision disorders with Andy Rosenfarb, ND, L.Ac., to further my understanding and ability to help patients suffering from Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Dry-Eye Syndrome.

On the personal side, I spend my spare time planning travel adventures, chipping away at a writing project, and reading to stay inspired.

Having been blessed to be taken under the wings of so many caring people, it’s my life’s wish to be the very best I can for my patients.
