Appreciation Can Help You Stay Healthy

Taking care of our health is really just one part of a much larger question:

How can we make our life rich with joy?

What makes us happy? What makes us feel fulfilled? What gives us joy? What gives us energy?

These questions are intimately related to our physical health.

Are you wasting precious time and energy on resentments? It’s helpful to remember that negativity and stress have been scientifically shown to contribute to many serious physical ailments, including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, depression, anxiety, digestive disorders, accelerated aging, etc.

The Internet brings us a tidal wave of information, especially on health issues. We can never do it all! Therefore, I find it’s helpful to simplify my life and focus on the things that really matter.

I find there are certain small pleasures that bring me a very special amount of joy – like hot tea on a cold day, the smell of the air after it rains, listening to good music, and spending quality time with loved ones.

These may seem like small things, yet they help me stay balanced and healthy amid our hectic modern life.

It’s vital to our physical health to take in and savor these small pleasures – to breathe fresh air outdoors, drink in silence, appreciate the people and things around us, and avoid negativity.

Are you taking time to drink in the small gifts that this life can offer, that can help us stay healthy in body and mind?

Life passes so quickly. What are you doing to restore, rebalance, and enjoy your life? What are you doing to enrich your life in small ways?
