Forget the Ineffective Flu Shot: Stay Well With a Myers Cocktail!

What do Brad Pitt, Madonna, Simon Cowel, Rihanna, Alan Cumming, Rita Ora, Kelly Osbourne, Jessa Hinton, Beyonce, Dr. Oz, and many other celebrities have in common?

The answer is that they all receive an amazing blend of intravenous (IV) nutrients called the “Myers Cocktail.”

In the 1960s, Dr. John Myers, an internist at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, found that because of inefficiencies in our bodies’ digestive, absorptive, and detoxification systems, only a small fraction of the vitamins and minerals we take as food or in pills are actually absorbed into our bloodstream.

Myers proposed that a safe mixture of key nutritional supplements could be given by intravenous infusion, literally flooding each cell in the body with nutrition.

Each of the vitamins and minerals Dr. Myers selected had been available in intravenous form for years, but no one had ever thought of combining them in an IV “cocktail.”

Here’s the story…

Many patients take high-quality, and very appropriate supplements and nutrients, yet they don’t experience the expected health improvements. In order to have a therapeutic effect, nutrients need to be adequately absorbed and delivered to the cells. When we take nutrients orally, the gastrointestinal tract needs to be able to break them down to release their core nutrients, and then transport the nutrients to the blood for delivery to the cells.

The process depends on a number of physiological systems functioning properly together, including enzyme activity, acid production, healthy gut flora, a healthy gastrointestinal lining free of inflammation and irritation, the absence of “bad” bacteria, and other factors.

When the nutrients are broken down and reach the bloodstream, they are transported to the liver for filtering and detoxification before being delivered to the cells. A compromised liver can make some nutrients inactive or ineffective, or the liver may simply dump them out for excretion before they can perform their therapeutic functions in the body.

Also, many nutrients only have a therapeutic effect in very high levels. For example, vitamin C has been demonstrated to have an antiviral effect at very high serum concentrations of 10-15 mg/dL. And these levels are not achievable in healthy individuals by taking vitamin C orally.

Even if we could achieve incredibly high serum concentrations by super-dosing ourselves with vitamin C, the disagreeable side effects such as diarrhea and nausea would make the practice unpleasant, if not unfeasible.

Another factor hindering rapid, effective health improvement from vitamin supplementation is that by the time the healthy regimen is implemented, the body may be so depleted that it needs a long time to “catch up.”

Also, many people follow the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) guidelines, which are actually levels aimed at  avoiding deficiency-induced diseases. But these puny levels have little effect on promoting optimal health. Therefore, most individuals are nutrient-deficient and will require higher dosages and a long time to “catch up.”

The Myers Cocktail Solution…

Intravenous Nutrient Therapy (IVNT) delivers nutrients directly to the circulating blood and cells where the nutrients are needed.

Whereas oral absorption may be 1-25%, IVNT makes 100% of the nutrients available to the cells for repair and health maintenance. This completely circumvents the barriers of malabsorption, gastrointestinal disease, and liver dysfunction, and allows the nutrients to have an immediate effect on promoting improved health and function.
