It’s sweet, safe, and slow in Old Hawaii!
It was just twenty-two years ago when we purchased the property for what has become the Pacific Naturopathic Hawaii Peace Garden Retreat home.
At the time, fifteen-foot cane grass covered the property, choking out all other vegetation and entirely blocking the views of the sea.
The two houses on the property were so distressed that friends refused to step inside! (Many friends actively discouraged us as we persisted in moving forward.)
Nowadays, visitors enjoy expansive views, beautiful groves of tropical fruit trees, and an entirely re-imagined jewel of a guest house.
People say we “scored.” Yes, we scored by visualizing what could be, and then very simply and unswervingly putting one step in front of the other over the years. And we’re very glad we did!

Please note: The Covid-related requirements for a stay in Hawaii have shifted (and doubtless will shift again).
Presently, fully vaccinated individuals living in the U.S. or its territories may enter Hawaii on domestic flights without pre-travel testing or quarantine, starting the 15th day after the completion of their course of vaccination.
Not vaccinated? All other travelers must have their negative test results in hand from a Trusted Testing and Travel Partner prior to departing, as an alternative to Hawaii’s mandatory 10-day quarantine.
Passengers who are not in quarantine are free to travel between islands without restriction.
