IV Therapy For Macular Degeneration, Plus a Myers Cocktail IV FAQ

Macular degeneration is a progressive condition that affects the central part of the retina (macula) and results in distortion or loss of central vision – eventually leading to blindness.

It can occur at any age, but is especially common in older adults (age-related macular degeneration).

At Pacific Naturopathic we offer an intravenous therapy cocktail that can slow or stop the progression of macular degeneration. The cocktail is rich in antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins and is easily administered in comfortable surroundings in less than two hours.

A Myers Cocktail FAQ: Safe, Powerful, & Effective

Why should I take nutrients intravenously? Can’t I get all the nutrients I need from the food I eat?

Marcel Hernandez, ND

In a perfect world, yes! But most modern diets are seriously lacking in nutrient content. And, even if you’re consuming a stellar array of healthy foods, the nutrient quality in today’s food has drastically declined.

Also, many people suffer from compromised gastrointestinal function due to the chemicals and toxins added to the modern diet, plus stress, allergies, genetic issues, infections and other factors.

The result is a compromised ability to absorb the nutrients the body needs to maintain health.

When nutrients are delivered intravenously, they bypass the digestive system and are carried straight to the cells. Each cell is bathed in the nutrient-dense solution which is formulated in a highly bio-available form for the greatest potential to heal and energize.

What is the Myers Cocktail?

The basic Myers Cocktail was formulated more than 40 years ago to accelerate healing and restore energy and stamina.

The standard Myers Cocktail that we offer at Pacific Naturopathic includes magnesium, calcium, selenium, zinc, vitamin B-5, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12, vitamin B complex, and Vitamin C.

Other vitamins or ingredients may be added, as indicated for the patient’s condition and overall health.

What conditions is the Myers Cocktail used for?

The cocktail is indicated for chronic acute viral illness and colds, as well as fatigue, fibromyalgia, vitamin deficiency, anxiety, stress, depression, migraine or tension headaches, general immune boosting, gut malabsorption, leaky gut, and as a valuable support for cancer patients undergoing traditional medical treatment.

It can also be useful in situations where oral nutrients or therapies aren’t working.

If you’re feeling anxious or over-stressed, it can help calm and relax you. If you are feeling generally run-down, it can help boost your energy. Many diseases and symptoms benefit from this therapy.

Have there been studies on the Myers Cocktail?

Yes – researchers at Yale tested the Myers Cocktail on a group of patients in a double-bind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial. The study measured tender points, depression levels, and quality of life.

Significant improvement was seen in all pertinent outcome measures with the Myers’ group, versus no improvements in the placebo group.

Currently, 274 clinical research trials are studying intravenous micronutrient therapy. Roughly half of the studies concern the treatment or prevention of cancer. The remainder cover a wide range of medical and health conditions.

How many treatments will it take before I feel better?

Patients vary in the number of treatments they require, but some report improvement after just one treatment, and many report significant healing by the fourth infusion. People with chronic conditions may need ongoing treatment several times per week, or every few weeks to regain their energy.

How long does the Myers infusion take?

A typical Myers drip takes about 15 minutes.

Is It Safe?

The Myers Cocktail is a safe, effective, minimally invasive therapy that is well tolerated by most people. It carries an extremely low risk of serious adverse side effects. If the protocol is administered quickly, there may be a sensation of warmth and flushing due to the rapid rise of magnesium. Some patients may experience a taste of vitamins in their mouth shortly after receiving an infusion.

Do I need to prepare to receive the Myers Cocktail?

It’s best to prepare by drinking plenty of water and consuming a little food before you come to the office.

Is a Myers Cocktail right for me?

We provide comprehensive holistic medical care, including thorough evaluation of each patient’s individual symptoms, health, and needs. During the evaluation, we can determine if IV therapy might be beneficial. After the initial consultation, we can schedule IV treatments to be performed at the Pacific Naturopathic office by one of our certified naturopathic doctors.
